Subframe is a desktop app that combines a design canvas, a built-in browser, and a coding agent in one tool, so product teams can design and build in the same place. Unlike conventional design tools, its canvas is based on HTML and React, which means everything drawn on it maps one-to-one to real code and can be implemented exactly as designed.
The workflow is a roundtrip: connect a codebase and preview the existing app, explore designs from scratch or capture live screens from the browser into the canvas as editable designs, build by implementing designs directly in the repository, then ship with git branches, shared prototypes, and pull requests. A built-in coding agent works inside Subframe — teams can connect Claude Code or Codex with their own subscription, or bring external agents such as Cursor or Gemini through the Subframe MCP. The agent can see the user’s selection, designs, browser, and codebase, and works from the components and tokens in the project’s own design system. Code stays on the local machine; only the design canvas lives in the cloud.
Subframe follows a Freemium model. Its Pro plan is listed at $20 per editor per month and includes unlimited projects, unlimited viewers and editors, use of the customer’s own Claude or Codex subscription, expanded AI credits, and multiple themes per project.
Subframe is for product designers, founders, and front-end teams who are tired of switching between design tools, browsers, and coding agents, and who want designs that stay faithful to production code — particularly teams building with React.
