Brusfri (Swedish for “noise-free”) takes a refreshingly simple approach to noise reduction. Play it a few seconds of pure noise (room tone, hiss, fan hum), press Learn, and it builds a precise profile of that noise. It then subtracts the noise using a bank of tuned gates rather than spectral processing, which is why vocals and instruments come through without the underwater, metallic artifacts that plague many denoisers.
The interface is deliberately minimal: a large Learn button, an amount control, and a few switches for edge cases like high-frequency emphasis and attack timing. It ships as VST, AU, and AAX for Windows and macOS, and there is also an iOS version (AUv3) for mobile production.
Brusfri’s name is a promise: because it gates out a learned noise floor instead of smearing the spectrum, transients and sibilance survive intact, which voice actors appreciate on long narration sessions.
