FaceApp is the AI face editor behind the viral aging challenge, transforming selfies with realistic age, gender, smile, hairstyle, and makeup filters in one tap.
FaceApp became a global phenomenon when millions shared old-age selfies online, and the AI behind it is genuinely capable. Point it at a face and it can realistically add decades, change gender, add or remove a smile, grow a beard or mustache, try new hairstyles and hair colors, apply makeup, or morph you with a celebrity. The famous ‘Impression’ filters perfect selfies by smoothing skin and adjusting features while keeping results believable.
The current app keeps expanding: Emotions filters change facial expressions in playful or dramatic ways, new fun filters add creative twists, and background editing lets you place your portrait anywhere. An easy-compare tool shows before/after with a swipe, and results share to social apps in one tap. FaceApp is a mobile-first app on iOS and Android, developed by FaceApp Technology Limited.
FaceApp is free to download with core filters available and watermarked exports. FaceApp PRO unlocks all 60+ filters and removes the watermark, typically priced around $9.99/month or $59.99/year, though exact prices vary by store and region. Subscriptions are managed through Apple or Google.
Best for casual users and social media fun: profile photos, viral transformations, and playful edits. It’s a selfie app, not a professional retouching tool, so photographers needing full manual control should look elsewhere.
