Todoist MCP Server is an open-source Model Context Protocol server that connects Claude to Todoist for natural language task management. Published on GitHub under the MIT license with about 390 stars, it was last updated in April 2025 and can be installed through Smithery or npm.
The server exposes Todoist as a set of MCP tools, so an assistant such as Claude can create, read, update, complete, and delete tasks using everyday language instead of API calls. Tasks are found by partial name match, which means users can say things like showing high priority tasks due this week or marking the documentation task as complete. It talks to Todoist with the user’s own API token from the Todoist integration settings, and clear error feedback is returned when something cannot be found or completed.
Setup is a short configuration block in the MCP client: the server is added to a client such as Claude Desktop, and a Todoist API token, found under the Developer section of Todoist’s integration settings, is supplied so the server can act on the right account. The project is also listed on the Smithery and Glama server directories, which makes discovery and one-command installation straightforward for people browsing MCP integrations.
The server is free and open source under the MIT license. You run it yourself against your own Todoist account, so any cost is simply whatever Todoist plan you already use.
Todoist MCP Server is for Todoist users who drive their task list from an MCP-capable AI assistant and want to capture, reschedule, and clear tasks conversationally instead of clicking through the app.
