Proliferate is an open-source AI IDE hosted on GitHub, with about 520 stars under the AGPL-3.0 license and active development in 2026. It is built for running several AI coding agents at once: Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Grok, and other agents work in parallel inside a single workspace.
Running multiple coding agents by hand usually means juggling terminals and branches. Proliferate gives every task an isolated git worktree with its own branch, terminal, conversation, and review state, so parallel agents never step on each other’s changes. Work can run locally on your machine or in the cloud, and reusable workflows can be built on top of the agents. The app is available as a macOS download, with documentation and a public changelog on the project site, and the full source code is developed in the open on GitHub.
Because every task keeps its own branch, terminal, and conversation, briefing several agents differently and comparing their approaches side by side becomes practical: you review each agent’s work the way you would review a colleague’s branch, and merge only the result you like. The project develops in the open with a public changelog and an active community Discord.
Proliferate is free and open source under the AGPL-3.0 license, so the IDE itself costs nothing to download and use locally. A cloud option for running agents remotely is offered alongside the local app.
It is aimed at developers who already use AI coding agents and want to parallelize them safely, especially engineers running several agent tasks across branches who need isolation, review, and a single place to supervise the work.
