OpenMausBot is an open-source team of AI bots inside a chat app, with around 7,000 stars on GitHub. It is an independent, local-first alternative to Grok Bot: every bot is a real agent with its own personality, model, computer, and connected apps, running on the agent subscriptions you already have.
Instead of one assistant in one window, OpenMausBot gives you a roster of bots that behave like contacts. Each bot runs on the Claude, Codex, or Grok tools on your own machine, coordinated by a small local harness, so transcripts, keys, and events stay on your disk. Bots work in parallel, keep their own thread memory, and return when something needs approval. It uses the Apache 2.0 license, is not affiliated with xAI, Meta, OpenAI, or Manus, and ships for macOS, Windows, and Ubuntu.
OpenMausBot is free and open source. You bring your own agent logins or API keys, so existing model subscriptions and provider fees still apply. Optional Cloud plans, starting at 15 dollars per month with a 3-day free trial, give bots always-on cloud machines.
OpenMausBot is for developers, indie builders, and small teams who want a team of AI agents they control, rather than one closed assistant, and who will bring their own Claude, Codex, or Grok accounts.
