Dots are OpenAI’s always-on personal AI agents inside ChatGPT, launched on September 29, 2026 at DevDay. Each dot is powered by GPT-6 Astra and comes with its own cloud computer and browser, so instead of waiting for your next prompt it keeps working toward your goals around the clock, even when your phone and laptop are switched off.
You give a dot a responsibility to own: a big project, or a recurring chore you want off your plate. It starts from your ChatGPT memory, uses Codex and your connected tools, and proactively figures out the next steps, bringing you finished work to review and decisions that need your judgment. Dots connect to more than 4,000 apps through ChatGPT’s plugin ecosystem. You name your dot and set Custom Rules that define what it may do on its own, what needs your approval, and what is blocked, while an Auto-review layer checks sensitive actions against your instructions before they run. You can reach your dot in ChatGPT on desktop, web and mobile, inside Slack or Microsoft Teams, or by voice call.
Dots are a paid feature of ChatGPT’s top tiers. Access is included with ChatGPT Pro at $100, $200 or $500 per month and with Business Premium, while Enterprise access is rolling out in an admin-enabled beta. There is no free tier for dots.
Dots suit professionals and teams who already live in ChatGPT and want to hand an always-on agent real, ongoing responsibilities, with clear rules about when it acts alone and when it must check in first.
