Ollama SwiftUI is an open-source native macOS interface for Ollama, written in Swift and SwiftUI. Published on GitHub under the MIT license with about 360 stars, it lets you chat with large language models downloaded to your Mac through a friendly desktop app instead of the terminal. It was last updated in July 2025.
The app is a front end for a local Ollama installation, which must be installed and running for it to work; it is not affiliated with Ollama itself. Once connected, you can hold conversations with local models, switch the model in the middle of a conversation, restart a chat at any time, and organize different conversations in tabs. It also manages the model library from the GUI, so you can download new models, delete ones you no longer need, or duplicate a model without touching the command line. The maintainer has put out a call for contributions, noting limited time to add new features personally.
The interface is meant to feel like a normal Mac app rather than a web wrapper: conversations open in their own tabs, models can be pulled by name from the Ollama library without leaving the app, and light and dark appearances are both supported. Announcements are posted in the GitHub discussions area, and the maintainer actively invites pull requests from anyone who wants to help keep the app moving forward.
Ollama SwiftUI is free and open source under the MIT license. There is no paid tier; you build or download the app and use it with your own local Ollama installation.
It is for Mac users who run models locally with Ollama and prefer a polished native chat window with model management built in, rather than working in a terminal.
