This repository is the official Python client for Nomic Atlas, Nomic’s platform for exploring, labeling, searching and sharing massive unstructured datasets in the browser. With it, developers upload text, image, audio or video data, generate and store embeddings, and publish interactive Atlas maps that make datasets from hundreds to tens of millions of points navigable. It is an open-source project on GitHub with around 1,900 stars, updated in 2025.
Nomic is the company behind GPT4All and the Nomic Embed family, and Atlas is its data platform: the client library handles authentication, dataset upload, embedding generation and map creation from Python scripts and notebooks. Typical workflows include embedding a document corpus, projecting it into a 2D topic map, deduplicating near-identical records, and sharing a link so teammates can explore clusters, search semantically and label examples visually. The client wraps the Atlas API so these steps fit into ordinary data-science code.
Freemium. The Python client is open source and free; Nomic Atlas itself offers free exploration tiers with paid plans for larger datasets, teams and production usage.
