NOFX is an open-source AI trading terminal that covers US stocks, commodities, forex and crypto from one self-hosted system. An AI assistant proposes trades you approve one by one, or runs configured strategies continuously, and the project has grown to roughly 13,100 stars on GitHub since its 2025 debut.
NOFX has two modes of working. In Frontier, you pick a market, ask the AI to generate entry plans โ market, limit, weighted ladder or TWAP โ and compare them on a chart with entry prices, stop losses, targets and margin estimates before explicitly approving any order. In Autopilot, you configure a trader with a model, an exchange account and a strategy, and the system reads the market, makes decisions and routes orders on its own, with a dashboard showing positions, performance and the full decision history. Execution connects to exchanges including Binance, Hyperliquid, OKX and Bitget, with additional adapters in the runtime. Models and market data are accessed through the Claw402 service, settled pay-as-you-go in USDC, while your exchange credentials stay encrypted on your own machine and are never placed in model prompts. The whole stack installs with one command via Docker.
NOFX itself is free and open source under the AGPL-3.0 license, and you can self-host it at no cost. AI model calls and premium market data are provided through Claw402 on a pay-as-you-go basis settled in USDC, which makes the overall offering freemium; exchange trading fees are separate, and leveraged trading carries real risk.
