Meetily is a privacy-first, open-source AI meeting assistant with 31,900+ stars on GitHub that transcribes and summarizes meetings entirely on your own computer.
Cloud meeting notetakers join your calls as bots and ship your conversations to someone else’s servers. Meetily takes the opposite approach: it runs locally on macOS and Windows, captures and transcribes audio on-device, and never requires the cloud. It uses NVIDIA Parakeet and Whisper models for live transcription — up to 4x faster than typical setups — with speaker diarization to tell voices apart, and local Ollama models to generate summaries and meeting minutes. The app is built in Rust for speed, works fully offline, and positions itself as the leading self-hosted open-source meeting note taker. A paid PRO edition adds enhanced accuracy, advanced exports, custom summary workflows and team features. The project is actively maintained, updated in September 2026.
The local-first design also changes the compliance conversation: legal, medical and executive meetings that could never be sent to a cloud notetaker can still get AI transcription and summaries, because the audio and text provably never leave the room’s laptop. Meetily records system and microphone audio together, so it works with Zoom, Meet, Teams or in-person conversations alike, and exports notes into the formats teams already use. For a growing number of users, ‘the open-source one that keeps meetings private’ is the entire buying decision.
Meetily’s Community Edition is free and open source under the MIT license. Meetily PRO adds enhanced accuracy, advanced exports, custom summary workflows and team features at a paid tier — see meetily.ai for details.
