Loona is a smart pet robot from KEYi Robotics that brings a playful, expressive companion into the family home. Powered by GPT-based conversation and on-device perception, it chats, plays games, recognizes the people around it, and can even keep an eye on the house while you are away.
Unlike a stationary smart speaker, Loona moves around the home on wheels, with animated ears and a 2.4-inch LCD face that give it a lively, pet-like personality. Its 5 TOPS processor, 720p camera, 3D time-of-flight sensor, and four-microphone array let it recognize faces, read facial expressions and gestures, and understand voice commands in many languages. Loona perceives objects and surroundings and describes them in colorful stories, turns spoken ideas into AI-generated artwork, and remembers each family member’s preferences so interactions feel personal. When playtime is over, it can roam the home as a remote monitoring camera and returns to its charging dock on its own when the battery runs low. Loona understands almost all languages and can respond in ten of them, including English, Spanish, German, French, Japanese, and Korean.
Loona is a paid hardware product: the Loona Premium edition sells for $499, the Limited Edition for $535, and a two-robot Duo bundle for $989. The ChatGPT-4o conversation function is currently offered free of charge.
Loona suits families with children who want the joy of a pet without the mess, parents who want light-touch home monitoring while away, and kids who are ready to take first steps into programming through play.
