Llama2 WebUI is a lightweight open-source project that runs any Llama 2 model locally behind a friendly Gradio web interface, on GPU or CPU, across Linux, Windows and Mac. It supports the full Llama 2 family (7B, 13B and 70B, including GPTQ, GGML and GGUF builds) and CodeLlama, with 8-bit and 4-bit modes for modest hardware. It is an open-source project on GitHub with around 1,900 stars, last updated in 2024.
The project wraps llama.cpp-style and Hugging Face loading paths in a single launcher: pick a model, start the server, and chat from the browser. Beyond the chat UI, it exposes an OpenAI-compatible API endpoint on top of your local model, and its companion llama2-wrapper package lets other generative-agent apps use your local Llama 2 as a backend. A ready-made Colab notebook is included for trying the 7B chat model without any local setup, making it one of the simplest on-ramps to self-hosted Llama 2 inference from its era.
Free. Llama2 WebUI is open source under the MIT license; models are used under Meta’s Llama 2 license.
Hobbyists and developers who want a simple local chat UI and API for Llama 2-era models on their own machine, or a quick way to prototype against an OpenAI-style endpoint offline.
