LightX2V is an open-source inference framework that makes image, video and action generation models run dramatically faster and lighter. Developed by the ModelTC team behind LightLLM, it applies step distillation, quantization and other acceleration techniques to leading open models — Wan, HunyuanVideo, LTX-Video, Qwen-Image and more — so high-quality generation becomes practical on modest hardware. The project has about 3,000 stars on GitHub and is updated very actively.
Modern video diffusion models are impressive but slow: a short clip can take many minutes of GPU time. LightX2V attacks the cost from several directions at once — distilled few-step sampling, low-bit quantization, efficient attention and caching strategies — within one unified framework that spans text-to-video, image-to-video, text-to-image and image editing, and even world-model style action generation. The same technology powers LightX2V Studio, the team’s hosted platform for AI avatar and multimodal content production, and there is a companion macOS app for local inference on Apple Silicon. For developers, the framework offers a practical path to deploying open video models at interactive speeds without rewriting their serving stack for every new model release.
The LightX2V framework is free and open source under the Apache-2.0 license. The team also offers the hosted LightX2V Studio platform for browser-based creation; the framework itself can be self-hosted at no cost.
LightX2V is for developers and studios deploying open image and video generation models who need interactive speeds and lower GPU bills, and for creators using its Studio platform for AI avatar content.
