Kapwing’s Background Remover strips the background from videos and images right in your browser — no green screen, no chroma key, no desktop software.
Removing a background from a still image is common; doing it for moving video used to require a green screen and professional software. Kapwing’s tool uses AI to isolate the subject in a video clip frame by frame, so talking-head recordings, product demos and social clips can be placed over a new scene, a solid color or a blurred backdrop in a couple of clicks.
Because the remover lives inside the full Kapwing editor, the cutout is only the first step. You can immediately resize the clip for TikTok, Reels or YouTube, add captions, layer text and images behind your subject, and export — all in the same project and without downloading anything.
Kapwing is one of the better-known names in browser-based video editing, with a large library of templates and tools used by social media teams. Its background remover inherits that ecosystem, so a cutout clip can move straight into captioning, resizing and brand styling instead of being exported and re-imported into another program.
You can try the Background Remover free with a watermark on exports. A Kapwing subscription (Pro from $16/month billed annually) removes the watermark and unlocks full-resolution exports and the complete editor.
Kapwing’s remover is built for creators, social media managers and small marketing teams who record people on camera and want a studio look without studio equipment.
