Invisible Dots is an open-source, self-hosted personal agent — an alternative to OpenAI Dots and Grok Bot that runs entirely on your own machine, with a browser built to stay undetectable by anti-bot systems.

Overview

Invisible Dots is an open-source project on GitHub with around 32,000 stars and active development in 2026. Each agent, called a Dot, gets a computer of its own: a hardware-accelerated virtual machine with a Linux desktop and a persistent disk that sleeps when idle and wakes for the next task. Its browser is a C++-patched Firefox whose fingerprint lives inside the engine, and each identity keeps its own cookies and logins, so a Dot can shop, download invoices, watch prices, or run recurring checks with a person’s judgement — for as long as the task takes.

Key Features

  • Self-hosted agent with its own persistent virtual computer
  • Stealth browser engine designed to avoid anti-bot blocking
  • Separate browser identities, each with its own cookies and logins
  • Memory and skills written as notes it re-reads on later tasks
  • Connect your own MCP servers, with keys kept out of configuration
  • Permission system: allow, ask, or deny per tool, with an approval inbox
  • Task queues, schedules, and recurring automations; crash-safe state
  • Reach it via web UI, CLI, HTTP API, Telegram, or WhatsApp

Reliability is treated as a core feature: every accepted message and task is stored so that a restart — or even a kill -9 — loses nothing, and a tool call interrupted mid-flight is never executed twice. The engine is a fork of the nanobot agent project, and the browser stack (invisible_playwright) is published separately for other builders. The project is currently labelled alpha and runs on Linux and Windows hosts.

💳 Pricing

Invisible Dots is free and open source under the MIT license. You self-host it on Windows or Linux and bring your own model key (an OpenRouter key is used for setup); there is no subscription.

Who Is It For

Power users who want a tireless personal agent for browser-based chores — price watching, document collection, inbox-style errands — but insist on self-hosting, their own accounts, and explicit permission control.
