HexStrike AI is an open-source MCP server that gives AI agents hands-on access to more than 150 professional cybersecurity tools, turning assistants such as Claude, GPT and Copilot into autonomous penetration-testing partners. The project has earned over 12,900 stars on GitHub, is released under the MIT license, and was actively developed in 2026 by OTT Cybersecurity.
HexStrike bridges the gap between an LLM’s reasoning and the real security toolchain. Connect an MCP-compatible client, and the agent can plan an assessment, choose appropriate tools โ from Nmap, Nuclei and SQLMap to cloud and binary-analysis utilities โ execute them, and adapt based on results. A decision engine handles tool selection, parameter optimization and attack-chain discovery, while specialized autonomous agents cover workflows such as bug-bounty hunting, CTF solving, CVE intelligence and exploit research. Real-time dashboards and vulnerability cards turn raw output into reports a human can act on.
The framework manages the unglamorous parts of automated testing as well: long-running scans are handled as managed processes with caching, error recovery and resource limits, so an agent can run a multi-hour assessment without babysitting individual commands. Version 6 of the platform organizes the arsenal into network reconnaissance, web application, cloud, password and binary-analysis categories, giving agents a structured menu rather than a raw shell.
HexStrike AI is free and open source. You provide the machine, the underlying security tools (themselves free) and your own AI client or API keys.
HexStrike is for penetration testers, bug-bounty hunters, red teams and security researchers who want AI agents to execute real assessments under their direction. It is powerful offensive tooling and should only be used on systems you own or are authorized to test.
