Govee sells fun, affordable smart lighting — LED strips, bars and outdoor lights with rich colors and music sync — at prices far below the premium brands.
Govee has become the go-to budget lighting brand by offering features that used to cost three times as much: segmented RGBIC strips that show multiple colors at once, TV backlights that use a camera to match on-screen action, curtain lights that display pixel art and text, and a huge outdoor range from string lights to permanent roofline lighting. Most products connect over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and work with Alexa and Google, with newer models adding Matter support.
Govee has built a big community around its DIY scene sharing, where users upload lighting designs that anyone can apply in one tap. Its permanent outdoor lights have also become a popular alternative to hanging holiday lights every year: they stay mounted year-round, then switch to subtle white accent lighting when the season ends.
Govee hardware is inexpensive with no subscription: LED strips start around $16, TV backlight kits around $70-$150, and outdoor and curtain lights roughly $100-$300. The Govee Home app and all lighting effects are free.
Renters, gamers and anyone who wants dramatic, colorful lighting effects on a budget — especially for TVs, desks, bedrooms and holiday displays. It is also a good pick for seasonal decorators, since one install can cover Halloween, Christmas and everyday accent lighting. Most products install with adhesive or clips, so nothing here requires tools or permanent changes to a room.
