Godot MCP is an open-source Model Context Protocol server that connects AI agents to the Godot game engine. It has about 6,200 stars on GitHub and was updated in 2026.

Overview

Godot MCP closes the feedback loop between an AI coding assistant and a real game project. Through the server, an agent can launch the Godot editor for a specific project, run the game in debug mode, capture console output and error messages, and stop execution again โ€” so it can see whether its code actually works instead of guessing. Beyond running projects, the server manages scenes directly: creating scenes with chosen root node types, adding nodes with custom properties, loading sprites into Sprite2D nodes, exporting 3D scenes as MeshLibrary resources, and saving scene variants. It also handles project analysis and, for Godot 4.4 and later, resource UID management. Setup is a single npx command, and it works with Claude Code, Cline, Cursor, and any other MCP-compatible client. It is written in TypeScript and runs on Node.js 18 or later.
