Gaotu

Gaotu is a Chinese online education company applying AI to large-class teaching, personalized learning plans, and intelligent tutoring services.

Overview

Gaotu operates large-scale online courses for Chinese students, and its AI systems make that scale educational rather than merely broadcast. Models personalize learning plans, generate practice targeted to individual weaknesses, and power tutoring assistants that answer student questions between live classes. Its teaching-support tools help instructors analyze class performance data and adjust pacing, while its assessment systems evaluate student work and track mastery across topics. The company’s focus on study-effectiveness measurement distinguishes its approach: engagement metrics matter less than demonstrated learning gains, and its AI is tuned accordingly. For families choosing between in-person tutoring costs and online alternatives, Gaotu offers structured courses with personalization layers that approximate individual attention. Its intelligent tutoring extends the reach of teachers in large classes by handling routine questions and practice generation, reserving human instructor time for the explanations where expertise actually changes outcomes. Course design combines live instruction with structured practice cycles, and family reporting shows progress against exam syllabi so parents can see exactly where study effort is translating into readiness.
