FlagAI is a fast, easy-to-use, and extensible toolkit for training, fine-tuning, and deploying large-scale AI models. Created by the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence (BAAI), it is particularly strong on Chinese language tasks while covering English and multimodal work as well.
FlagAI provides a unified API to download and work with more than 30 mainstream pre-trained models, including BAAI’s Aquila language models, the AltCLIP multilingual vision-language model, the AltDiffusion text-to-image model, EVA-CLIP, GLM, BERT, RoBERTa, GPT-2, and T5. For training at scale, it integrates the four major parallel frameworks, PyTorch, DeepSpeed, Megatron-LM, and BMTrain, so data and model parallelism can be set up in under ten lines of code. A prompt-learning toolkit supports few-shot tasks, and built-in dataset support covers benchmarks such as CLUE and SuperGLUE for classification, extraction, QA, summarization, and generation. FlagAI is open source under the Apache-2.0 license, has over 3,800 stars on GitHub, and remains maintained, with updates in 2026.
FlagAI is free and open source under the Apache-2.0 license. Models and datasets are downloadable at no cost, and there is no paid edition of the toolkit.
