The Firecrawl MCP Server is the official Model Context Protocol server that gives AI agents live access to the web. From any MCP client it exposes Firecrawl’s search, scraping and crawling tools, so an assistant can fetch pages, extract structured content and research the web instead of relying on stale training data. The project has about 7,700 stars on GitHub, is released under the MIT license, and was actively developed in 2026.
Once connected, the server turns Firecrawl’s context API into tools an agent can call: scrape a single page into clean markdown, search the web and get full page content back, crawl or map an entire site, run batch jobs, and use Firecrawl’s agent and monitoring features for recurring checks. Because it speaks MCP, it plugs straight into clients such as Claude, Cursor and other agent frameworks with a single configuration block. Pages are rendered with JavaScript support, so content behind modern front-end frameworks is captured properly. The server can run against the Firecrawl cloud with an API key, or against a self-hosted Firecrawl instance for teams that want to keep the stack in-house.
