Eve is Vercel’s open framework for building AI agents. It lets developers define agents, tools and workflows in TypeScript and Markdown, execute them inside sandboxes, and deploy on Vercel’s infrastructure or self-host. The framework has attracted more than 5,600 stars on GitHub and was under active development in 2026.
Eve provides the harness around the model: a project structure and runtime for agent definitions, tool wiring, durable workflows and safe code execution, from the team behind Next.js and the Vercel AI SDK. Where many agent demos stop at a single prompt loop, Eve is aimed at production behaviour, with agents that can run long tasks, recover from failures and be deployed like ordinary Vercel applications. Its Markdown-based definitions also make agent behaviour easy to review and version in Git. The framework leans on Vercel’s existing strengths: the same deployment pipeline, observability and scaling model that teams already use for web applications, applied to agents that may run for minutes or hours rather than milliseconds. For organisations already standardised on Vercel and the AI SDK, Eve offers a notably short path from a prototype agent to a deployed, monitored product. Example projects in the repository demonstrate common agent patterns and deployment setups.
Free. Eve is open source under the Apache-2.0 license; if you deploy on Vercel, normal platform usage costs may apply, and self-hosting avoids them.
