ego lite is a web browser built from the ground up to be shared between a person and their AI agents. Each agent works in its own isolated Space inside the same browser, using your real logins and tabs, while you keep browsing undisturbed in yours. Released in 2026 by citrolabs, it has rapidly earned about 18,300 stars on GitHub.
Existing agent tools are bridges that drive an external browser, which means flaky connections, lost session data and fights over control. ego lite instead is the browser itself: on first launch it can migrate your Chrome data, so agents inherit your cookies, extensions and bookmarks with data stored locally on your device. Agents connect through the ego-browser skill, which exposes the browser as in-page JavaScript functions, snapshot, fill, click, navigate, capture, so an agent composes a whole multi-step task as code in one pass instead of a slow loop of individual commands. Its engine-level page snapshots handle hard cases such as deeply nested iframes, and the makers’ Real-World Bench testing reports complex tasks finishing 47% to 63% faster than rival tools.
ego lite is free: the browser is a free download for macOS and Windows, and the ego-browser skill and repository are open source under the MIT license.
ego lite is for people who delegate real web work, research, data entry, lead enrichment, scraping, to coding agents and are tired of agents hijacking their browser or failing on logged-in sites.
