DemoGPT is an open-source framework on GitHub that creates working agentic applications from a single natural-language prompt. With about 1,900 stars and ongoing development, it bundles the tools, prompts, frameworks and model connections needed to go from an idea to a running LLM agent app in seconds.
DemoGPT pioneered the idea of an AI that writes its own LangChain applications: you describe the app you want, and the system plans the work, generates the code, runs it, reads the errors and iteratively refines the result until the application works. The modern version keeps that autonomous development loop while supporting a broad set of model providers, including OpenAI models, Claude, Gemini and Qwen, and targets both web and mobile-flavored outputs built with React and Python. Because the agent tests and debugs its own output, non-expert users can prototype agent ideas that would otherwise require substantial LangChain knowledge, while developers get a fast starting skeleton they can extend by hand.
The project was created by Melih รnsal and gained attention as one of the earliest demonstrations of an AI system that designs, builds and debugs its own applications, a pattern that has since become central to modern autonomous coding and agent tools.
DemoGPT is free and open source under the MIT license. You run it with your own LLM API keys, so the only costs are whatever your chosen model provider charges for the tokens used while generating and running apps.
DemoGPT is for developers, founders and tinkerers who want to prototype LLM agent applications quickly, explore what autonomous code-generating agents can do, or bootstrap LangChain projects without writing all the boilerplate themselves.
