CopilotKit is an open-source frontend stack for building AI copilots and agent-powered interfaces inside your own applications. The project has earned more than 38,000 stars on GitHub and is under very active development, with its latest updates in 2026. Its team also created AG-UI, the protocol that standardizes how agents and user interfaces talk to each other.
Instead of sending users to a separate chatbot, CopilotKit lets you embed an assistant that sees your app’s state, takes actions through your own functions and renders rich, generative UI โ charts, forms and cards โ directly in the conversation. It supports React, Angular, mobile and even Slack surfaces, connects to agents built with LangGraph, CrewAI and other frameworks, and handles the hard parts: streaming, tool calls, human-in-the-loop approvals and shared state between agent and interface.
