Cloudflare OS is an open-source AI productivity environment built by the Cloudflare Workers team and released so any company can adapt it into its own internal “company OS.” It combines an agent chat interface, sandboxed AI-built mini-apps, and a capability-based security layer, all running on Cloudflare Workers — or on your own servers via the open-source workerd runtime.
Inside Cloudflare, much of the workforce uses this system daily to create documents, build small applications called Gadgets, and delegate tasks to agents that know how the company operates. Each Gadget is a private, sandboxed instance of an app that an agent can modify on request, so software adapts to users instead of the other way around. Gatekeepers — a security layer likened to supercharged MCP servers — mediate every connection to external systems, enforce narrow permissions, log all actions, and let humans approve side effects in bulk after the fact rather than blocking the agent mid-task. The project launched publicly in 2026, has over 11,500 GitHub stars, and is in early access with heavy ongoing development.
Cloudflare OS is free and open source under the Apache-2.0 license. Running it incurs only your own Cloudflare Workers or server costs, plus model usage.
Companies and platform teams who want a secure, customizable internal AI workspace where employees can safely let agents build tools and act on company systems.
