ChatGPT Telegram Workers is an open-source project that lets you deploy your own ChatGPT bot on Telegram using Cloudflare Workers, with Vercel and Docker as alternative deployment targets. Instead of paying for a server, the bot runs on Cloudflare’s free serverless tier and answers chats through the OpenAI API (and other compatible providers). The project has earned roughly 3,800 stars on GitHub, is still actively maintained in 2026, and is MIT licensed.
The bot is configured through environment variables and deployed with a one-click button or the Wrangler CLI. Once running, it supports private and group chats, keeps per-chat conversation context in Cloudflare KV or D1 storage, and can switch between multiple API keys and model providers. Access can be restricted with a whitelist of Telegram user IDs, so a personal deployment is not open to the whole internet. It also supports multiple bot tokens from a single worker, custom system prompts, and commands for starting new conversations or switching models, making it one of the most complete self-hosted Telegram front ends for LLMs.
The project is free and open source under the MIT license. Cloudflare Workers’ free tier is usually enough for personal use; you only pay for your own LLM API usage.
Anyone who wants a private, always-on ChatGPT inside Telegram without renting a VPS: individuals, small teams and communities that prefer self-hosting and full control over their API keys and chat data.
