AstrBot is an open-source, all-in-one agent chatbot platform with 42,000+ stars on GitHub that brings LLM assistants into the messaging apps people already use every day.
Instead of building yet another standalone chat window, AstrBot connects large language models to mainstream instant-messaging platforms — QQ, Telegram, Discord, Slack, WeChat Work, Feishu, DingTalk and more — and turns them into reliable conversational AI infrastructure. Individuals use it as a personal AI companion inside their chat apps; teams run intelligent customer service, automation assistants and enterprise knowledge bases on the same stack. It talks to many model providers (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini and local models among them), supports multimodal conversations, and can also plug into agent platforms such as Dify, Coze and Alibaba Cloud Bailian. A plugin ecosystem with more than 1,000 community plugins, an agent sandbox for safe code execution and a polished WebUI round out a platform that is production-ready rather than a demo. The project is actively developed, with updates continuing through October 2026.
AstrBot is free and open source under the AGPL-3.0 license for self-hosting. Your only running costs are your own server and whichever LLM API you connect; optional one-click cloud deployment is offered through third-party hosts.
Individuals, developers and teams who want an AI assistant living inside their chat apps — for companionship, community bots, customer service or internal automation — without building the plumbing themselves.
