AI Render is an open-source Blender add-on that brings Stable Diffusion directly into Blender, rendering AI-generated images from a text prompt combined with your 3D scene. It has about 1,200 stars on GitHub, is licensed under MIT, and was updated in 2025.
AI Render turns Blender’s render button into an AI image generator. You compose a scene as usual, write a prompt, and the add-on uses your scene’s render (including depth information) to guide Stable Diffusion, so generated images respect your scene’s composition, camera and layout. It can run through the DreamStudio cloud service, which needs no local GPU setup, or against a local Automatic1111 Stable Diffusion WebUI installation for full control. Animation is supported too: prompts and Stable Diffusion settings can be animated with Blender’s own tools, enabling AI-stylized video sequences frame by frame.
In practice, artists use AI Render heavily for look development: block out a rough scene, generate many stylistic variations in minutes, and pick a direction before committing hours to detailed modeling and texturing. The project wiki collects prompt-engineering help and workflow guides, and because AI Render drives standard Stable Diffusion backends, improvements in models and samplers flow straight into Blender scenes.
AI Render is free and open source under the MIT license; the add-on can be downloaded from the project’s GitHub releases at no cost. Cloud generation uses your own DreamStudio credits, or you can render locally for free.
AI Render is for Blender artists and 3D creators who want to explore AI-assisted rendering, concept art and stylized animation without leaving their normal Blender workflow.
