agtx is an open-source agentic development environment that gives multiple AI coding agents a shared blackboard to work from. Hosted on GitHub with about 1,700 stars and actively developed in 2026, it runs in the terminal and coordinates agents such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode, Gemini and Grok on the same set of tasks.
Instead of driving one coding assistant at a time, agtx lets you add tasks to a board and delegate them to a fleet of agents running in parallel. Different models can collaborate on a single task with automatic session switching and shared context awareness โ for example, one model planning, another implementing and a third reviewing the result. It follows a spec-driven development approach and offers a keyboard-first workflow with Vim-style controls, which makes it feel at home for developers who already live in the terminal. Because the environment is agent-agnostic, teams can mix providers and models instead of locking their workflow into a single vendor’s assistant.
agtx is free and open source under the Apache-2.0 license. There is no hosted plan or paid tier from the project itself; you run it locally in your terminal, and the only costs are whatever subscriptions or API usage your chosen coding agents already require.
Developers who juggle several AI coding assistants and want them working from one shared plan instead of separate, disconnected sessions. It also suits power users experimenting with multi-model workflows for larger refactors, implementations and code reviews.
