AI Native Call Center is an open-source, self-hosted call center where an AI agent answers every call by default and humans take over without dropping it. Published on GitHub under the Apache-2.0 license with about 330 stars, it is under very active development, with updates in October 2026.
Calls arrive at FreeSWITCH and are answered by a voice model over a speech-to-speech connection that the application terminates itself. The model owns the conversation while a flow owns the phase: each phase carries instructions and the tools the model may use, transitions fire on tool results, and built-in tools may politely refuse when, for example, a queue is closed. When a person is needed, the caller is transferred into a real mod_callcenter queue where agents wait with a companion browser extension holding their SIP leg. The whole system is one Go binary containing the REST API, event stream, and web interface, plus PostgreSQL and FreeSWITCH, and it works with your own SIP trunk and a realtime model from OpenAI, Grok, Qwen, Doubao, or any compatible gateway.
A one-line installer script sets the system up on Linux or macOS, and deployment and design documents in the repository explain how the pieces fit together, including how everything the AI and the human agent do during a call lands in a single call record that can be reviewed afterwards.
The software is free and open source under the Apache-2.0 license, with one-line installers for Linux and macOS. Your costs are the infrastructure you run plus your SIP trunk and realtime model usage.
It is for businesses and builders who want an AI-first phone operation they fully control, from small support lines to outbound teams that still need humans one transfer away.
