Firebase Studio is Google’s full-stack AI development workspace in the browser, where AI agents help you build backends, front ends, and mobile apps and ship them on Firebase.
Firebase Studio brings an entire development environment into the browser. You can import existing repositories from GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, or your local machine across most tech stacks, or start from the catalog of framework and language templates. Its App Prototyping agent creates a new application from natural language, mockups, drawing tools, and screenshots, which you then refine with Gemini-powered assistance that can code, debug, test, refactor, and explain code while acting on your codebase. Environments are customizable with Nix, workspaces can be shared with a URL so testers and teammates can preview and collaborate in real time, and built-in web previews and Android emulators let you test across platforms. Finished apps deploy to Firebase App Hosting in a few clicks, with Firebase Hosting, Cloud Run, or custom infrastructure also supported.
The workspace is backed by the wider Firebase platform, so the authentication, databases, and hosting used by a prototype are the same services the production app will run on, and thousands of extensions from the Open VSX registry can be added to the environment.
Firebase Studio is freemium. During preview it is available at no cost with 3 workspaces, and members of the Google Developer Program can access up to 30 workspaces.
Firebase Studio suits developers and teams who want an AI-assisted, zero-setup environment for prototyping and building full-stack web and mobile apps on the Firebase and Google Cloud ecosystem. It is also a strong option for hackathons and for teams standardized on Google Cloud.
