iMCP is an open-source macOS app that connects your digital life to AI assistants. Created by Mattt Thompson (of NSHipster) and released under the MIT license, it runs a local Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that gives AI clients like Claude Desktop, the ChatGPT desktop app and local models via llama.cpp secure access to your Messages, Contacts, Calendar, Reminders, HomeKit home and more. The project has around 1,800 stars and is actively maintained, with code last updated in 2026.
Personal data on a Mac is locked inside individual apps. iMCP bridges that gap: install the app, grant the permissions you choose, and any MCP-compatible AI client can search your contacts, view and create calendar events, read reminders and control HomeKit accessories โ all through a local server on your own machine, with no cloud relay in between.
Free. iMCP is open source under the MIT license and the app is a free download from the official site.
Mac users who want their AI assistant to actually help with messages, schedules and smart-home control, and MCP enthusiasts looking for a well-built personal-data server.
