Tavily MCP is the official Model Context Protocol server for Tavily, giving AI assistants real-time web search, page extraction, site mapping and crawling tools. It has around 2,400 GitHub stars.
Tavily is a search API built for AI agents, and this server wraps it in MCP so clients such as Claude, Cursor and other MCP hosts can use it without custom glue code. Its tavily-search tool returns clean, LLM-ready results from the live web; tavily-extract pulls readable content out of pages, including JavaScript-heavy ones; and the map and crawl tools chart a site’s structure and systematically harvest its pages. Configuration is a single API key passed to the server, and the tools expose Tavily’s knobs โ search depth, topic, time range, included or excluded domains โ so agents can trade speed against thoroughness. That makes it a standard way to give a coding or research agent fresh knowledge beyond its training data. The server is published on npm and is actively maintained, with updates in 2026.
The MCP server is free and open source under the MIT license. It calls the Tavily API, which offers a free tier; heavier search and extraction usage is billed on Tavily’s paid plans.
