SalesGPT is an open-source, context-aware AI sales agent published on GitHub with about 2,800 stars. It automates sales outreach conversations by understanding which stage of the sales process a prospect is in and responding accordingly.
Unlike a generic chatbot, SalesGPT is built around a sales-stage state machine: it detects the conversation stage from the dialogue history, selects stage-appropriate tools and prompts, and keeps the persona of a sales representative throughout. It can work across voice, email and messaging channels, connect to product knowledge bases for accurate answers about what is being sold, and use tools such as calendaring to book meetings. The project is MIT licensed, installable from PyPI, and ships with demos and example configurations; the codebase was last updated in 2024. The repository includes example sales knowledge bases, conversation transcripts and a Typeform contact path for teams interested in the hosted version the authors later built on top of this open-source core.
SalesGPT is completely free and open source under the MIT license. You run it yourself and only pay for the LLM API calls and any channel services you connect to it.
SalesGPT is for sales teams, founders and developers who want to prototype or deploy an AI agent that handles outreach and qualification conversations automatically.
