AI-Writer is an open-source Chinese novel generation project by BlinkDL, the creator of the RWKV architecture, and has about 3,900 stars on GitHub. It uses a Chinese pretrained RWKV language model, comparable in spirit to GPT-2, to write long-form web fiction such as xuanhuan fantasy and romance novels.
The project pairs a purpose-trained Chinese RWKV model with a writing interface designed for fiction: you provide a title, genre cues or the opening of a passage, and the model continues the story in matching style. Because RWKV combines transformer-like training with RNN-style efficient inference, generation stays fast and memory-light even for long chapters, which suits the repetitive, high-volume nature of web novel drafting. The repository includes the model weights, generation code and instructions for running everything locally. While the underlying model generation is older than today’s frontier LLMs, the project remains a notable, fully open example of an end-to-end AI writing tool for Chinese fiction.
