Anarlog is an open-source, local-first AI meeting notepad โ a privacy-first alternative to Granola from the fastrepl team. It captures meeting audio directly on your device, transcribes it locally or with a provider you choose, and keeps everything in a local database. The project has more than 9,500 stars on GitHub and was actively developed through 2026.
Unlike notetakers that send a bot into your call, anarlog never appears in the participant list: it listens to device audio, transcribes on-device where supported, and stores sessions, notes and transcripts in local SQLite with plain local files for recordings. Summaries and chat can run on a local model, your own API key, or the optional hosted Anarlog Cloud. The app is built with Tauri, React and Rust, runs on macOS, Windows and Linux, and was formerly known as Hyprnote.
The community application is free and open source under the MIT license. Optional hosted services (managed transcription and intelligence, CloudSync) and source-visible enterprise components are commercially licensed.
Anarlog also includes a local CLI and MCP server, so AI agents and other tools can query your meeting history programmatically, and its plugin system covers capabilities such as local speech-to-text, calendar access, export and notifications. Notes export as plain Markdown, which keeps the notetaker usable inside stricter corporate environments and personal knowledge workflows alike.
It is for professionals and teams who want AI meeting notes without sending conversations to someone else’s cloud โ and for anyone who needs a notetaker that can pass a security review.
