Entire CLI is the open-source command-line tool from Entire, the Git forge built for AI agents. It hooks into your Git workflow to capture AI coding-agent sessions as you work and index them alongside your commits, creating a searchable record of how the code in your repository was actually written. The project is actively developed on GitHub, where it has collected more than 5,100 stars, with updates as recent as 2026.

Overview

When an agent writes code, the reasoning behind a change usually vanishes once the session ends. Entire fixes that by pairing every agent-made commit with the conversation that produced it: prompts, tool calls and thinking become checkpoints in your history. Sessions sync automatically with commits, secrets are detected and redacted before anything is stored, and a semantic graph of your codebase helps agents start each session with real context instead of re-reading files. The CLI works with Claude Code, Codex, Gemini and Cursor, and every platform feature is available from the command line.

Key Features

  • Captures coding-agent sessions and links them to the commits they produced
  • Checkpoint timeline that traces any change back to the reasoning behind it
  • Automatic secret detection and redaction before session data is stored
  • Semantic codebase graph that cuts agent token spend on context gathering
  • Unified search across repositories, commits and agent sessions
  • Works with Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI and Cursor

๐Ÿ’ณ Pricing

The Entire CLI is free and open source under the MIT license. Entire also operates a hosted Git forge platform with multi-region hosting, which is where the commercial offering lives, so the overall product follows a freemium model: the open-source tooling costs nothing, while the managed platform is the paid side.

Who Is It For

Entire CLI is for engineering teams that rely on AI coding agents and need auditability: leads who must review not just what an agent changed but why, and developers who want agent sessions to become a durable, searchable part of project history.
