Xiaohongshu MCP is an open-source Model Context Protocol server that lets your AI assistant work directly with Xiaohongshu, the social platform also known as RED or RedNote. Once connected, an MCP client such as Claude Code or another AI agent can check login status, search notes by keyword, browse recommendation feeds, open note details and comments, and publish image-and-text posts, all through natural-language instructions instead of manual clicking. The project has more than 16,000 stars on GitHub and is actively developed in 2026.
Xiaohongshu has no public API for this kind of automation, so xiaohongshu-mcp runs locally under your own account session: you deploy it (traditionally with Docker on your own machine), log in once, and your AI tools gain a structured set of tools for reading and posting on the platform. For users who want zero setup, the author also offers x-mcp, a browser extension edition that runs in Chrome or Edge on your local network with no server to deploy. Integrations for agent frameworks (including OpenClaw skills) are provided, and the project’s donations are documented as going to charity.
