PR Agent is the original open-source AI reviewer for pull requests. Created at Qodo and later donated to the community, it is now a fully community-owned project that reviews, describes and improves pull requests with a single LLM call per command. It has earned about 13,500 stars on GitHub and is actively maintained in 2026.
PR Agent works where your code already lives. Comment commands such as /review, /describe, /improve and /ask on a pull request and the agent answers with a structured review, an auto-generated description, concrete code suggestions or free-text answers about the change. It runs as a GitHub Action, a CLI, a Docker container or a webhook service, and supports GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps and Gitea. Because each tool uses one focused model call, reviews typically complete in around 30 seconds and stay cheap even on large repositories, and a PR compression strategy keeps big diffs within context limits. Any model reachable through LiteLLM can power it, from OpenAI and Claude to local models served by Ollama, and behavior is customized through configuration files and JSON-based prompting. Self-hosting means your code never leaves your own infrastructure.
PR Agent is free and open source under the MIT license, maintained by the community. It is distinct from Qodo’s commercial code-review platform; with PR Agent your only cost is the model API usage of whichever provider you configure.
PR Agent is for engineering teams that want automated, AI-assisted code review inside their existing git workflow without sending code to a third-party SaaS, and for open-source maintainers who need fast first-pass reviews on every pull request.
