Career-Ops is an open-source AI job search agent with 76,000+ stars on GitHub that scans job boards, scores every posting against your CV, and tailors your application materials locally.

Overview

Job hunting is a pipeline problem: hundreds of postings, each needing a judgment call and a tailored application. Career-Ops turns that grind into an agent workflow that runs locally inside your AI coding CLI — Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and similar tools. It scans job boards, scores each posting from 1 to 5 against your CV before you invest time, generates ATS-friendly resumes and cover letters tailored to the role (with LaTeX-quality output), prepares you for interviews, and tracks applications end to end. Crucially, it keeps a human in the loop: the agent fills in each application, but you press Submit. Everything is local-first, so your CV, salary expectations and application history stay on your machine. The MIT-licensed project is actively maintained, with repository updates in October 2026.

Key Features

  • Job board scanning – collects postings automatically instead of manual browsing.
  • Fit scoring – every job scored 1–5 against your CV before you apply.
  • Tailored materials – ATS-friendly resumes and cover letters customized per posting.
  • Interview preparation – role-specific prep generated from the posting and your profile.
  • Application tracker – pipeline view of applications, stages and follow-ups.
  • Local-first and human-approved – runs in your CLI; you always make the final submit.

💳 Pricing

Career-Ops is completely free and open source under the MIT license. It runs inside an AI coding CLI you already have, so your only cost is that tool’s own plan or API usage.

Who Is It For

Job seekers — especially technical professionals — who apply at volume and want each application scored, tailored and tracked by an agent, without handing their career data to a SaaS platform.
