PowerDirector by CyberLink is a fast, feature-rich video editor for Windows, Mac, and mobile, popular with creators who want professional depth without a professional learning curve.
PowerDirector has spent two decades as the enthusiast’s editor: a full multi-track timeline with more than 140 editing features, backed by hardware acceleration that keeps previews and exports fast even with 4K footage. Its effects library is huge — over 600 effects packs, transitions, titles, and plug-ins for subscribers — and it handles jobs many consumer editors skip, including 360-degree video editing, multi-camera syncing, video stabilization, and screen recording. The AI toolkit is a headline feature: AI object detection and cutout, background removal, scene detection, motion tracking, and speech enhancement clean up footage automatically. Subscribers also get royalty-free stock content and cloud storage, and companion mobile apps let a project start on a phone and finish on the desktop. Finished videos can be shared directly to YouTube and social platforms from the export screen. It regularly wins enthusiast-editor comparisons on the strength of its speed and sheer feature count for the price.
A free Essential version is available forever, with core editing tools and basic AI features (some advanced tools and export options are limited). PowerDirector 365 costs $19.99/month or $69.99/year with 50 GB of cloud storage and the full effects library; the perpetual Ultimate edition is $129.99 one-time.
PowerDirector suits YouTubers, hobbyists, and small businesses that want deep editing features, fast performance, and flexible pricing — subscription or one-time purchase — without stepping up to a pro suite.
